Explore the Human Side of Borders.
Gain a better understanding of immigration policies and experience the personal stories of those affected. Be part of the movement to create positive change in the world by centering the voices of those impacted by border issues.

OUR MISSION
Voices Across the Border
Immigration and border issues can often feel abstract and far-removed from students' daily lives. Voices Across the Border seeks to bridge that gap by sharing the stories of people who have been directly impacted by these issues. Through personal narratives, high schoolers will gain a deeper understanding of the human impact of policies and the struggles and triumphs of those directly affected.
Voices Across the Border aims to create empathy and understanding for individuals and communities impacted by immigration and border issues.
By centering the voices of those directly affected, students will gain a more nuanced and compassionate view of these issues. Through hearing these stories, students will develop critical thinking and conflict resolution skills that will allow them to engage in constructive conversations about these issues and create positive change.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER
William Russell Posorske
Will is passionate about organizations which help develop critical thinking, conflict resolution, and peace-building skills to create necessary change.
That’s why he is:
-
An active member at San Diego and Chicago- based Hands of Peace, an organization that brings high school students from the Palestinian territory and country of Israel to the U.S. for the month of July every summer to discuss highly contentious issues.
-
A volunteer in Mexico at the border for week long assignments, working with groups seeking asylum through groups like the Kino Initiative.
-
A member and intern of Veterans Heritage Project, an Arizona non profit which allows students to interview veterans and publish their stories in the Library of Congress for future generations.
-
A member of the Scottsdale Mayor's Youth Council which provides Scottsdale high school youth the opportunity to learn about how local government works and how services are provided, tour various city facilities and meet with key city staff and city officials, participate in various meetings and/or events as they arise, and share their ideas about local government and local issues with the Mayor, Mayor's staff and City Council members
-
The founder for his school’s first Model United Nations team currently with 75 members. The group allows debate on global issues, like immigration, and forces students to take positions they may not agree with normally. Will especially likes this aspect because it encourages students to leave their comfort zone and preexisting perspective, educating themselves on real issues happening all around the world.
-
The founder of the Human Library at Chaparral, Will’s local Arizona high school with a student population of 2,000. This project brings human “books” to the school who have stories to tell so students can, for example, talk to individuals, who they normally may not have the chance to interact face-to-face with, and hear their stories. Often, this first -hand interaction creates understanding and compassion of complex or contentious situations. Will is a big believer that compassion opens the door to a more peaceful world.
-
A board member for the past two years & long time volunteer at the Swift Youth Foundation, an organization that helps economically disadvantaged children have the opportunity to receive after-school help, mentorship, attend weekend special activities, and a week-long summer camp on Prescott, AZ free of cost.
-
A cadet in the Air Force Explorers program, a military preparatory program for young adults focused on building leadership and Air Force speciality training.
-
Recipient of the National President’s Gold Volunteer Service Award, 2023
Outside of his social impact efforts, he loves to travel and immerse himself in the culture via philanthropic actions. To date, he has brought food, clothing and school supplies from US drives he spearheaded to every continent, except Antarctica. He loves learning about other countries and broadening his perspective on the world.
